We are Broken:

Life here on earth is broken. We see this truth everywhere we turn. We can see it in our pain, sickness, sadness, worries, and eventual death. Our lives are broken and our world is broken. Why? The Bible reveals that the reason for all the brokenness on earth is sin. In the beginning, God created the heavens and earth and everything that he made was good (Genesis 1:31). God created man and woman in His own image and they were created to know and love God and enjoy perfect fellowship with Him. He placed one restriction on them, and they broke it (Genesis 3:6). As a result of their sin, the earth was cursed, and all who would be born after them are born with a sin nature. We aren’t sinners because we sin; We sin because we are sinners, and our sin nature separates man from God.

The Only Solution:

Man needs to be reconciled to God (2 Corinthians 5:18-19). The only way this reconciliation could take place was by God sending His Son Jesus to this broken earth. Jesus existed forever as God’s Son, but came to earth over 2,000 years ago and became one of us. He lived a sinless life (John 8:46; Hebrews 4:15).  He lived the perfect life that we are called to live, but have failed to. He then died a sacrificial death to pay the price for our sins. After three days, He rose from the dead, conquering the death that our sins deserve (1 Corinthians 15:3-4).

How can we be Saved?:
Believe in Jesus! Seek forgiveness of your sins through Jesus.  Repent from your sins. This means that we acknowledge and agree with God that we have sinned against Him, and that our sins are wrong. To repent is to turn our backs on sin, and to turn our hearts to Jesus. This does not mean we will stop sinning.  It does mean that we will strive to always battle against sin with God’s help.
We are not saved by being good people or by doing good works (Galatians 2:16; Ephesians 2:8-9). We can only be saved because of what Jesus has done for us, not by anything we could ever do for Jesus.  All we can do is trust and believe in Jesus.  “Because if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9).

What’s Next?:
Love Jesus and live for Jesus! Seek Him everyday. Pray. Read the Bible. Find a good Bible-teaching, Gospel-Proclaiming church to belong to and commit to. We were created to know and love God. Life will only make sense when you are seeking to love God and bring Him glory. Becoming a Christian does not mean life will become easy or trouble free. However, It does mean that God will never leave us and forsake us (Hebrews 13:5), and you are never alone in your struggles. In Jesus, we have the promise that our sins are forgiven and we are given the assurance of eternal life.
